One of the destinations when in Burias is the now-famous Animasola Rock Formation. When we depart the Port of San Andres going to Burias, I asked the boatman to where we’re going. He pointed out at an island from afar and told me that we’ll be heading at the back of that island as our first stop. He then added that it would take us at least 2 hours to get to the island.
After hours of cruising, slowly and slowly, a tiny island appears ahead of us. Seen from afar, it looked like a shoe. The farthest island destination for our island hopping is within reach. I keep on thinking what’s in Animasola Island that we really have to visit. It was out of my mind that a certain rock formation quite familiar to me will be our destination.
Nearing the island, I saw a small stone formation on its left side. Later then I realized that the featured rock formations on some other blogs and other photos shared in Facebook was that same rock that we’re going to. So this is it, this is the Animasola Island.
I was thinking of a huge rock formation. Huge as in huge!!! I was surprised that it’s not that huge. It’s a smaller rock formation on the edge of the island.
Upon disembarking our boat, I immediately think of going directly to the formation. Our other group members were going the opposite way not heading to the rocks. I just thought maybe just like me; they’re not that familiar that the reason why we visited Animasola Island is because of the formation.
Luckily, no crowds were in the island. We’re the only tourists arriving there that time, maybe because it’s weekday. I walk ahead towards the rock formation. I also take some shots along the way. They have pebble and coral sands. They have crystal clear waters as well.
Reaching the rock formation, I am trying to figure out how to get there. Just few meters from where I stand, I tried to cross the waters in between. During my first try, I came back since I am alone and I am also afraid it will go deeper than my neck. I am afraid since I don’t know how to swim.
When my friends Gracia and Nenya arrived, I ask Gracia to take photos of me at the rocks and then I bravely cross the other side. I also climb the first level and carefully finding my way to the final level. Climbing without any assistance is quite risky. I tried my skill on rock climbing (actually, I don’t have), and I did it. I posed at the top of it. I’m glad I pushed myself to take it to the limit and successfully climb the top.
My problem now is my way down. I just can’t figure out how I made it to the top that I cannot reverse what I did. With a bit of struggle and more determination, I successfully made it down safe and complete.
The pose at the top made my Animasola Island adventure complete. We just continue taking pictures and take a look at the other side of the island. It is there that the view of the majestic Mount Mayon can be seen. Then we went back to the boat and decided to take out lunch before cruising back our way towards Tinalisayan Sandbar.
