Lima and it’s historic center play a vital role in preserving Peru’s culture. Each of the structures bears a unique story of the country. I really have a wonderful time inside the Cathedral of Lima. Seeing its magnificence, its architecture, very impressive.
When we went out of the Cathedral, I had the opportunity to pose in front of it. The cathedral also has very nice doors. I was supposed to take a pose at the main door or what they called Portada del Perdon, unfortunately it’s so high that we cannot take the whole door in a near photography. Now, I guess I need to have a wide angle lens with me. I just pose at the small door on the left.
Beside the Cathedral is the Archbishop Palace. It is another majestic building with a fantastic terrace. I am also stunned by the beauty of its wooden terraces. Capturing in my photo is the yellow painted Magistrate house around the corner.
We also cross the street passing on one side of the park and moving in front of the Government Palace. My guide told me to pose at the gate so she can take pictures of me with the building together with the guards. It’s very nice building, said to be same with Pizarro’s palace in Spain. Unfortunately, we have not witnessed the changing of the guards, which as per my guide, the ceremony was also the same with the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace in UK.
Peru have a very rich history and culture. From the Pre-Inca to Incas then to Spanish regime, it is very much impressive how they guard and preserve their history and culture.
Beside the Government Palace, on the other side of the road is the Park of the Flag. It is a small park where the flag of Peru is rising. Also, a fountain circling the flagpole and a beautiful garden with flowers resembling the colors of the Peru flag.
I also have a chance to take a picture with the lady police on site with the back of the Municipal Palace as our background. We are heading to the Convent of Santo Domingo.
Before going inside Sto. Domingo Convent, we pass by the arcade at the back of the Central Post Office. We also look for a postcard which I want to send back home. My guide haggles for a bargain and we buy a few. There are queues at the post office, so she then suggests buying stamps at the airport post office.
We also make a stop at one rolling store on the street that sells some religious items. She said, those items are way cheaper and of good quality. She again does the haggling and we buy few items for souvenir of San Martin and Santa Rosa.
After buying some stuff, we now went inside the convent.
