This is our last stop at the mountain…
This lighthouse was situated on top of the hill overlooking the ocean. It can also be seen from Marlboro country. It is strategically located to be visible to ships at sea.
The environment is nice, there was no usual road or walkway going to the structure itself, it’s like you have to pass through a private property with tall cogon grass on the side. That makes it more beautiful and exciting. When you draw closer to the lighthouse, you will see this very fascinating view; the lighthouse plus the ocean and the view of Mount Iraya.
It was built in the 21st Century that as of the moment we visited, the lighthouse was not yet functional due to lack of facilities. It’s an octagon-shaped structure built overlooking the ocean. The design resembles a typical Batanes building made of stones. Tourists frequent the area so they have planted flowers and other vegetations around.
The Ivatan touch of the lighthouse made it more attractive. It is well-maintained. The views were fantastic. The cows roaming around the rolling hills also added some beauty to the place.
We had several photos taken from the front and back of the lighthouse. It’s a refreshing feeling when we saw the green fields together with the blue ocean from afar.
With the beautiful architecture of the lighthouse and strategic location, it will surely be one of the landmarks in Batanes.
