Cambugahay Falls Siquijor

SIQUIJOR… Jumpin’ at Cambugahay Falls

One of the attractions that Siquijor boasts is the Cambugahay Falls. It is so easy to get here. You can hail a tricycle anywhere in town to get you here. If you have rented a motorbike, you also have to drive going to Lazi, Siquijor and ask from there the way going to Cambugahay Falls. You will not get lost since there is a huge signage and it’s just along the main road. There is also a waiting area with parking slots near the entrance.

From the road, you have to walk down for approximately 200 steps to the bottom. You must also have to leave some energy for you to climb up the stairs. Before reaching the bottom, you will see a glimpse of the third waterfall.

This waterfall is different from the others. If you are expecting it to be more than 10 meters high, you’re wrong. The height of every waterfall ranges from 3-6 meters only. What’s good with this waterfall, they have more waters flowing yet you cannot feel the water current anywhere. The depth is also manageable so anywhere you swim is no problem.

One of the exciting activities they have in Cambugahay Falls is the rope swing wherein you have to hold onto the rope and swing towards the center of the waters then let go. This is also the best touristy activity you will be doing here. The landing area is safe. The bottom floors are pebbles and it’s not also that deep. You can manage to float or walk tip toe into it. This rope swing is in the third tier of the falls.

The upper waterfalls are also walking distance. Every tier of this lovely waterfalls is a nice swimming ground. You can go near the falling waters; you can also climb the rocks and jump at the waters. These flowing waters are refreshing!

You can also bravely walk to the edge of the waterfalls but always be careful because we don’t certain know how slippery it is. If you slip and fall, either you land into open waters or fall onto the rocks. It is not advisable to do it since there are no medics on standby. Locals or your guides/drivers sometimes come with you to the falls. There are also lifeguards  at the parking area that will accompany you down. You may also swim if you want, anyway it’s not that deep and you have your lifeguard on standby

The overall experience with Cambugahay Falls is amazing. It’s my first time to do the rope swing. I braved myself swinging the rope with my GoPro! It was all worth it.
