Lazi Convent Siquijor

SIQUIJOR… Day Tours in the Island

Siquijor is the smallest province in the Philippines. It’s strategic location is at the center of the four neighboring islands of Mindanao, Negros, Bohol and Cebu. Siquijor Day Tour will showcase you all what the island has to offer.

There are lots of things to do in Siquijor. It can also be done in one day (quite rush) or if you want to savor the moment in Siquijor, do it in multiple days.

Our itinerary is a bit rush since we only have literally a day in Siquijor. After breakfast, we start our tour at 7:30am from White Villas. We also pass through some famous resorts along the way at San Juan and there are some short stops on some interesting sites as well.

  1. Capilay Spring Park

First stop is the Capilay Spring Park. Its location is just along the highway with a small entrance on the side leading to the freshwater manmade pool. Still early morning in Capilay and nobody is swimming at it. Yet as per our driver/guide, lots of locals and even tourists also flock the park during the day.

  1. Anting – anting Shop

We also have a quick stop at Lily Tatong’s store for some herbal bracelets for souvenirs. So many things to buy, there are some herbal infusion oils, there are also potions. After buying souvenirs, we also move directly to our next stop. Souvenir bracelets sell at Php 10 each depending on the size and design.

  1. Enchanted Balete Tree and Fish Spa

Actually, we don’t know the story on how enchanting this Balete Tree is. But it seems like it’s also quite an old tree, some folks may say so that it is that enchanting. I have not also in conversation with the locals on what legend they have for this tree.

Well, we also come here also for the fish spa. What’s interesting is, there are different kinds of fish in the pond and some of them also are really big fishes as well. This big fishes also helps the small ones. At first you’ll be afraid when these giants come closer to your feet. But when it starts to suck, it’s like they vacuum your skin. Sometimes it also tickles your feet and it’s refreshing. No entrance fee at the park yet they also accept donations for the maintenance of the fish spa.

  1. Lazi Church and Convent

At the center of Lazi, Siquijor lays these beautiful old buildings; the Lazi Church of San Isidro Labrador and The Lazi Convent. Both buildings are also more than a century old. This can also be a quick Siquijor Day Tour itinerary.

Lazi church is also one of the Baroque Churches that is being in the list of nominations to become one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Construction of Lazi Convent also is happening during the Spanish Era. Stones also make up the ground floor and wood paneling on the second floor.

  1. Cambugahay Falls

The entrance of Cambugahay Falls is just along the road. Also, please get ready for the almost 200 steps down to the waterfalls. To go down is easy, to climb up is also a bit tiring yet the beauty of the three-tier falls will delight you.

Go a bit adventurous by also swinging onto the rope going to the waters. Don’t worry, the water also is not that deep, you can manage to stand flat or tip toe. This can also consume a reasonable time during your Siquijor Day Tour itinerary, please manage it wisely.

  1. Salagdoong Beach

Another Siquijor’s best is the Salagdoong beach. They are also famous for its cliff diving on the clear waters. I am suppose to jump yet when we arrive at the resort, it is low tide. As per management, they will not also allow anybody jumping on shallow waters. They have several diving boards of more than 20ft in height. It will also be quite challenging for me (not a swimmer) yet I am suppose to be braving it. Only 10 pesos for environmental fee and 20 pesos for the parking fee.

We also spend half a day for this Day Trip. Before 12 noon, we leave Salagdoong Beach to catch up for our checkout time at our hotel. At first, we also plan to pass to Larena yet it is also the longer way to go back to our hotel so we opt to go back to our route.

When we arrive at our hotel, we immediately pack our things and head out for lunch. Our driver also takes us to Joe’s, feasting on lechon manok and paklay (goat’s internal organs) before we go to Cantabon Cave.

Here is our video during our day tours in Siquijor.

Enjoy watching and may you also be inspired to visit the beautiful island of Siquijor.
