The second day of our tour starts now…
As per our itinerary, Sabtang Island tour should be on our last day. But it is flexible and can be interchanged with our second day schedules.
The weather in Batanes is unpredictable especially in the months of the rainy season. Yesterday, Ate Remy informed us that we will be doing the Sabtang tour today to take advantage of the very good weather in Batanes. It is best to cross the seas of Batanes on a fine sunny day to avoid rough seas.
Morning wakeup call is set at 5am for us to prepare. After our early breakfast, we immediately hopped on to our van. We need to be at the Port of Ivana as early as possible to catch the ferry going to Sabtang Island.
Port of Ivana is the only access to Sabtang Island. It can be reached via passenger vehicles from Basco or other mode of transportation. The port is located beside the main highway and regular passenger vehicles are plying to this route.
When we arrived there, we saw the boats already sailing towards us at the main island. We sat at the seawall while waiting. We’re excited as the boats were getting closer and closer. In a few minutes, they’re on the quayside unloading passengers and cargoes.
We were called by Ate Remy to come to the boat since it will start to board passengers. At last we can experience another must-try in Batanes, the Faluwa boat ride.
