On board the last ferry schedule from Dumaguete City, our Siquijor Arrival is almost late in the afternoon. Initially, we plan for a Cantabon Cave exploration upon arrival but the tricycle drivers told us they are already close. So we proceed with our plan B, doing the Cantabon Cave tomorrow afternoon.
The island is known for different myths and witch crafts. I remember my uncle who frequent to Siquijor every holy week, they say he will be renewing his vows (says in a joking way). I also don’t mind it that time because I am just a kid and don’t know what it really is. Now as we plan for a trip to Siquijor, some friends are telling me about that.
Oh well, after reading some articles, the beauty of Siquijor out-weighs the myths and witch craft stories. Good for us on braving for this trip, we meet the friendliest people. The myths are just myths. Welcome to the mystical island of Siquijor.
As per original plan, we will be coming to Dumaguete for an escape to Siquijor. We plan a three-day trip to Siquijor yet an article we have read says that we can roam around Siquijor in a day. So we just venture into other spots in the Dumaguete area.
On our first day, we arrive early in Dumaguete. We go straight to Apo Island for a half-day trip and take the last Delta Fast Craft going to Siquijor in the afternoon. What we are doing, early morning upon arrival, we already buy a ferry ticket to secure our slot in the boat to Siquijor at Php 160 each. The last fast craft ferry that time going to Siquijor will leave at 4pm. So from Apo Island, we need to be at Dumaguete Port at least 3:30pm
We carefully plan our itinerary not to miss any of the trips and not to mess on our activities. Arriving back at Dumaguete Port ahead of time, we have ample time to relax. At the port, we charge our gadgets (there are charging stations at the pre-departure area) and laugh at the photos we have in Apo Island.
We board the ferry on time and leave Dumaguete on time as well. Travel time to Siquijor is about an hour so we have time to rest. It is a smooth ride even though it’s already late in the afternoon. We arrive Siquijor, Siquijor at 5pm.
We initially plan for an evening caving adventure at Cantabon Cave. I have read an article that they still have caving activities at night. We also find it interesting and time-saving if we’ll be doing it at night since it’s also dark inside the cave. When we get out of the port and talk to some tricycle driver, they tell us that there is no caving activity at night. So we just negotiate for a whole day tour for tomorrow’s activities.
We also arrange for a tricycle to take us to White Villas in San Juan, Siquijor at Php 400. It’s quite far though and it’s already dark. For the morning activities, we schedule the land tours at Php 1,100 and in the afternoon, he will take us to Cantabon Cave at Php 1,500. The fees do not include entrance fees to resorts except for the cave fees.
When we’re okay, we drive straight to our accommodation and agree for a meet up time early in the morning the next day.
